A trade show picture shows a booth with the title “Windows 7 for Netbooks” although it’s not clear if this is the working title for the lite version.

Re: WinHEC: Windows 7 for netbooks and other tidbits

Hard to say for sure. The News.com article references comments made by a Microsoft booth rep (which arguably one needs to take with a grain of salt sometimes) which stated that dual core Atom netbooks would appear. The real issue at hand is whether netbook manufacturers will go ahead and build dual core netbooks using the desktop Atom part vs waiting for Intel to come out with a mobile dual core Atom which isn't slated till the 2nd half of 2009 I believe.
Personally, I think creative taiwanese vendors will go ahead and put the desktop part into netbook systems.. and this will spur other companies and Intel to push for dual core netbooks. Just a theory though.

Re: WinHEC: Windows 7 for netbooks and other tidbits

Did they definitely say that their is going to be Dual Core Atom netbooks? Because Jerry Shen seemed to think thats not going to be the case... Is there a video (apart from the one of the douche that calls his S101 a dual-core machine) that states this? Would be very interested to see it.
