I also did the 3309 bios update and it worked a dream Thanks so much. The battery started to charge within 5 minutes after rebooting. Your step by step guide made it so easy. Many many thanks.

I did the bios update (3309) and now my battery that would not charge is charging. Thank you! Your directions were wonderful. I got nowhere with Acer other than they were going to send me a new battery, but I don't think that would have been a longterm solution.

Bought a refurbished model that had a return slip that said it had been returned as it would not turn on. Plugged it in and all looked OK reporting 100% battery charge. But when mains was turned off it just died. Found various sites and this looked easiest to follow. Flashed the BIOS from 3301 to 3309 following these excellent instructions. After a couple of reboots and second thoughts (as whilst BIOS had changed battery still reported 100% and problem remained), system sorted itself out and battery is charging up from 0% and it remains on when unplugged!

Fantastic. It works and it's so easy to upgrade! Thank you. As per today (march 09) we are on version 3309. Also, in order to boot from a USB just press F12 instead of F2 and you'll be directed to the USB.

I recently updated the BIOS to 3309 and if I remember correctly it only took me a minute or two max for the flash process to finish. Glad that you at least got it booting again - hopefully you'll be able to successfully flash the unit this time. BTW - you probably did this but just in case you didn't - make sure to keep the system connected to AC power.

Got it resolved. After waiting almost 2 hours, I finally powered it down, turn it on, hit <F2> and found that the version was still on the old version. The time kept resetting to the wrong time even after re-saving. After saving the bios settings, I saved & exited, but it would no longer boot. Power off and on, and get just a blank, black screen. Following these instructions in this link below and was able to recover, but the version kept at the old version.

On Step 13, how long did it take for the .bat command to complete?

I'm trying to update to 3309. I've been waiting for one hour and it's still hanging. After 45 minutes, I've hit return once without any response. The power is plugged in.

In Step 9, hit F12 instead of F2, arrow down to the USB, and press Enter. No need to change the permanent settings!

this sounds GREAT! and as much as i'd *love* to do this, i have one weeeee little problem: between steps 9 and 10, it asks me for my usr password.... which i have (oh yes, you guessed it) forgotten. *sigh*
anyone know of a bypass password? it won't take the root password either. i know it's a bit off subject but ANY help would be greatly appreciated. ^^
